Using agent state

  • Use status to convey actual activity: idle, thinking, working, needs-input, complete or error.

  • Use sm beside a task, md in a conversation, and lg for a focused empty or waiting state.

  • The field pauses outside the viewport, when the document is hidden, and when motion is disabled.

API

Compose the exported parts below. The prop types are read from the React source during the registry build.

Native element or underlying primitive props are inherited where declared, including accessible labels, event handlers and refs.

Accessibility

  • Visible labels accompany color and shape; provide a precise label for your workflow.

  • Status is announced politely. Use one live state indicator per active task to avoid duplicate announcements.

  • Reduced motion preserves the status contour without continuous animation.

States and appearance

For conditional content, keep a MotionPresence boundary around keyed MotionSurface children. The shared entrance and exit states work with native primitives and respect your motion preference.

Try pointer and keyboard interaction, and switch the appearance control in the navigation to compare light and dark mode. Motion respects reduced motion preferences.
